Best Examples of Auto Rules in Sumung

Auto Rules save you from manually categorizing the same recurring transaction every time it appears. A few common examples show how useful they can be.

Steps

  1. Go to Bank Accounts and click "Auto Rules" (or open it from an account's "Manage" dropdown).
  2. Click "Create Rule."
  3. Add a Condition, e.g. Field: Description, Operator: Contains, Value: the recurring payee's name.
  4. Add an Action, e.g. Action Type: Set Category, and choose the matching Chart of Accounts entry.
  5. Save the rule - it will apply automatically to future matching statement lines.
