Why Does a Journal Entry Show — in Ref No

A dash in the Ref No column means that entry hasn't had a reference number assigned yet. Open the entry to check its Reference field.

Steps

  1. Open the entry to check its Reference field.
  2. Reference numbers are normally auto-generated when an entry is created and saved.
  3. If it's still showing "–," the entry may have been created or imported through a path that didn't assign one.
